A little about me… It has been a life long dream of me to travel and see as much of the world as possible. My parents have lived in various different countries in Europe as well as in the United States. So perhaps you could say that traveling and adventure is in my genes.
I grew up in the Netherlands and when I was 16 my dad took me back to New York State where I was born. We only stayed for 2 weeks but I fell in love with the outdoors, the great open spaces and endless opportunities, freedom. The American dream was born.
The next year I got a unique opportunity to work all summer for my uncle in northern British Columbia, planting trees in the remote wilderness north of Prince George Canada. I missed the mountains as soon as I returned home to the Netherlands and I knew I would do anything to move to the Pacific Northwest.
Two years later, having finished school and a year of college, I packed 2 large suitcases and bought a one-way plane ticket to Seattle. I had a summer job lined up with the Forrest Service and about $1100 in cash. Besides that it was all up to me to make my American dream happen. My friends and family in the Netherlands all thought I would be back after the summer but I proved them wrong and still call the Pacific Northwest home.
I eventually landed my dream job, working seasonally as a Park Ranger. But like with any seasonal work, it also has it's challenges. So in 2014 I started my own photography business. I hope to generate some income through photography, to help me stay afloat during the “off season”, while at the same time using that off season to travel and explore new places. Photography has been a hobby of mine for a long time. Throughout the years I have continued to go beyond my comfort zone, trying different techniques, learning new skills and upgrading to better camera equipment. The results you can see for yourself in my galleries.
I live for the outdoors, I enjoy traveling, hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking and snowboarding and almost always end up taking my camera with me on these adventures. I have been blessed to be able to explore some amazing places and I hope that through my photography I can create an awareness, appreciation and understanding of the great outdoors, especially the wilderness. Leave only footsteps and take only pictures…
I know not everyone will be able to see these places for themselves which is why I truly enjoy sharing them with you trough my work. If you like my photography, please stay in touch and follow me on social media.
